O-Shot Q & A
What is the O-Shot?
The O-Shot, or orgasm shot, is a natural vaginal rejuvenation procedure that increases the likelihood of having orgasms. Topical anesthetics ensure O-Shot injections are completely painless. O-Shots use a rich source of growth factors, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), to trigger vaginal tissue regeneration, enhance your clitoris, and result in more frequent and satisfying orgasms.*
What is PRP?
PRP is blood plasma that contains a high concentration of platelets. Dr. Kauffman draws a sample of your blood and processes it in a centrifuge to make your PRP. The centrifuge spins and separates your platelets from the other blood components, such as red blood cells and white blood cells. These concentrated platelets are then mixed with plasma to make your O-shot.
What sexual dysfunctions does PRP treat?
Though PRP is commonly used to treat muscle injuries, arthritis-related pain, joint injuries, torn tendons, and cosmetic imperfections, it is growing in its use as a treatment for female sexual dysfunction. This includes:
- Female arousal disorder
- Low sexual desire
- Female orgasmic disorder
- Dyspareunia (painful intercourse)
In addition to improving sexual function, PRP generates smoother, younger-looking skin of the vulva and increases natural lubrication.
How does the O-Shot work?
After Dr. Kauffman injects the O-Shot into an area just inside your vagina, the growth factors in PRP stimulate the production of new blood vessels, collagen, and nerves. While each woman’s experience is different, most patients achieve benefits such as:
Better sexual experience
If you have a low sex drive, infrequent orgasms, or find it hard to orgasm, the O-Shot can enhance two erogenous areas: your clitoris and the Grafenberg spot, better known as the G-spot. After your O-Shot, you gain increased sensitivity and an improved response to sexual stimulation. This, in turn, gives you better orgasms and improves your sex drive.
Relief from painful sex
After menopause, some women may develop vaginal dryness and loss of lubrication. As platelets from your O-Shot promote collagen and blood vessel production, your vaginal lining is rejuvenated, and sex becomes enjoyable again.
Improvement of urinary incontinence
Even when PRP is injected into your vagina, the growth factors can stimulate new tissue growth in your urinary tract. As these tissues are restored, incontinence caused by loss of estrogen at menopause may improve.
What should I expect during an O-Shot appointment?
Dr. Kauffman applies a topical numbing cream so you won’t have to worry about discomfort. Then he injects your O-Shot into an area just inside your vagina. It does take a little time for new tissues to develop, so it may be weeks before you notice the improvement.
